HALLSBORO, NC (WWAY) -- The Columbus County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent attack and murder in Hallsboro.
Deputies reponded to 187 Bussey Rd. around 1:20 p.m. When they arrived they found the body of Keshia April Ward, 31. The also found Ward's boyfriend, Johnny Lee Tyler, 31, who investigators say had been attacked and beaten by multiple assailants. EMS took Tyler to Columbus Regional Healthcare Center in Whiteville.
Investigators say Ward's children found her and Taylor. Detectives say Ward and Tyler were attacked early this morning while the children were sleeping in the house. The children were not injured. Deputies say there were no signs of forced entry.
A cause of death has not been released. An autopsy on Ward's body will take place tomorrow in Raleigh.
