TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) -- Jake Fonvielle announced his resignation as the South Columbus head football coach and athletics director on Wednesday morning. Fonvielle took over the football program at South Columbus in 2009. Fonvielle led the Stallions to the 2-A East Championship game in 2011 & 2012.
Fonvielle plans to tell the football team about his resignation as soon as school starts on Wednesday morning. He met with the school's principal prior to school on Wednesday. The 1997 South Columbus graduate & East Carolina grad plans to take over the family business in Tabor City. He tells WWAY he's been thinking about the career move for over a year. The resignation is effective March 28.
