COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A Whiteville woman is more than $100,000 richer after stopping for gas Friday night.
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Barbara Hall stopped at the Wilco on South Madison Street in Whiteville and bought a $5 ticket in the Green & Gold game that wound up hitting the top prize of $150,000.
"The store clerk heard I was excited," Hall said. "She said, 'Oh, my God, you're a big winner!' I said, 'I am.'"
After taxes Hall wins $103,801. Hall told the NCEL she would pay off what she owes on her house and land and that she always planned to travel if she won the lottery.
