WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) -- A conviction in a 2012 murder means a Columbus County man will spend the rest of his life in prison.
A jury today found Tarrence Shakil Hazel, 21, guilty of first-degree murder and robbery.
In april 2012 Hazel and two other teens robbed Keith Gachett at his Hallsboro home and shot him in the head. They were caught after talking about the crime at school.
Earlier this year a jury convicted Hazel's co-defendant Marquice Antone, who is Gachett's nephew, of first-degree murder. The third suspect, Kenneth Williams pleaded guilty earlier this year.
